I talk to Bill Burdick about his FATE-Based-Cooperative-RPG-That-Feels-Traditional, “Death of the Vele”, that might soon be changing our perception of what’s possible in New Style games:
- Much praise for Troll from The Walking Eye
- Blood, Wits & Steel RPG
- Games on Demand: At Gen Con 2011, On Facebook
- Games mentioned: Universalis, Blood Red Sands, Lady Blackbird, Fiasco, F#, FATE, PDQ, Spirit of the Century, RISUS, In a Wicked Age, My Life with Master, Sorcerer
- Bill’s game is GMless, which I want everyone to refer to as a “peer RPG”, which is something I heard on Self-Critical Hits
- Here’s the book I bashed on mic. Don’t buy it because it doesn’t even know who Ron Edwards is: Designers & Dragons
- Bill is looking forward to Ron Edwards’ games on religion
- Promo: Self-Critical Hits
You can discuss the episode on the RPG Crosstalk forums or on Google+.
Music is “Ride” by “Adrenaline Factor” and I got it from Music Alley.

Scott:
Excellent interview. Loved the analysis on what Bill’s system brings to “real world” gaming groups and to those who might want a break from GM’ing.

Great interview! Lots of other systems I hadn’t heard of were mentioned! Keep finding These new designers! It inspires me to keep going with my own game design endeavors!!
